Maslowski Wellness and Research Center

A new two-story community center and swimming pool was constructed to replace a previous community center that was destroyed by the devastating category E4 tornado that wiped out 20 city blocks of the north-central town in June 2010.

Location:  Wadena, MN
Client:  Steve Miller Architects
Service:  Structural
Square Feet:  57,000
Construction Cost:  $12.4 million
Construction Materials:  Cast-in-place concrete, concrete masonry, precast concrete (wall panels, plank, double tees), structural steel, open web steel joists, metal deck
The new structure included a six-lane lap pool, zero-entry recreational pool, 90’ water slides and therapy pools.  Fitness facility, walking tracks, volleyball courts, basketball courts, tennis and pickle ball courts round out all that this building has.  Fitting our structure around all the different uses that this building needed to have was a difficult feat, but we were able to work with the architect, contractor and owner to come up with something that works very well.
