YouthLink/PPL is an organization that assists young people experiencing homelessness in transitioning into adulthood. They recently moved to a new location. BKBM developed solution to create a large openings in the existing exterior walls, while keeping costs low by saving half of the existing building and expanding it five stories above. Now, YouthLink/PPL has an additional 46 units that provide dorm-style living above their existing facility. The new location includes career, education, and mental health services. The BKBM team ensured that the construction site was managed effectively to minimize disturbance to service provider work. They also integrated elements such as offset window openings and connectivity of existing and new materials to create a cohesive structure.
