Bethel University East Entry Roadway Improvements, Minnesota

Roadway redesign including a pedestrian sidewalk for student safety, curb and gutter, storm sewer, and stormwater management basins

Redesign the Roadway, Protect the Environment, Enhance the Student Experience.

Location: Arden Hills, MN
Client:  Bethel University
Service: Civil

This roadway is the main thoroughfare through campus. With the amount of work to be done, one of the main challenges was the tight schedule of 2.5 months. Every question needed an almost immediate response, requiring constant collaboration between disciplines in order for the project to stay on schedule.

A unique item installed on the project was the boulder retaining walls. These helped the newly manicured road blend in with the more natural environment on Bethel’s campus.

This new roadway design will now capture stormwater runoff in storm sewer and route it to a series of Filtration Basins for treatment before it reaches Lake Valentine. It will also allow for a more aesthetically pleasing and safe student experience with the new concrete crosswalk from Freshman Hill and concrete sidewalks along the roadway.
