Centerview Elementary School in Blaine, MN is unlike most traditional schools. The new school is designed for students of the future, with flexible open spaces and moving walls.
BKBM worked collaboratively with Wold Architects and Engineers to design a responsive building to meet the school district’s vision of opening a school of the future. BKBM developed creative structural solutions for this uniquely open and flexible building. Secondary steel framing was added to the floor and roof systems to support the moveable walls, which required special detailing by BKBM to meet the wall manufacturer's stringent deflection criteria.
