Project Overview
BKBM provided structural and civil engineering services for the development of a new distribution facility on a 12-acre site in Brooklyn Park, MN. The project included two new buildings for commercial storage, distribution, and retail operations.
Project Highlights
- Multi-Building Development:
- One-story, 96,000-square-foot Goodwill store and warehouse for retail and logistics operations.
- 142,000-square-foot office and warehouse facility providing adaptable space for tenants.
- Both buildings feature Fabcon precast wall panels and roof systems comprised of steel beams, columns, open web joists, and metal decking supported on conventional spread/strip footings with a non-structural slab on grade.
- Civil Engineering & Site Design:
- Comprehensive grading and drainage design for optimal site development and stormwater management.
- On-site wetland mitigation strategies and FEMA flood plain modifications for environmental compliance.
- Civil layout included site utilities, access points, and efficient parking and circulation for trucks and staff.
Engineering Solutions
BKBM coordinated the design of efficient structural systems to support large open spaces, robust roof loads, and flexible industrial usage. Civil design accommodated flood plain and wetland requirements while providing reliable drainage, stormwater management, and utility service.
Results & Impact
The Brooklyn Park Distribution Facility delivers a high-capacity, adaptable logistics campus supporting both retail and warehouse operations. BKBM’s integrated engineering approach enabled code compliance, environmental stewardship, and operational flexibility for a modern distribution hub.
