Tina Wyffels joined BKBM in 1999 as a structural design engineer and has been part of the firm’s leadership team for more than two decades. Her appointment is the next step in a long-term leadership and ownership succession plan at the 100% employee-owned civil and structural engineering firm.
“Tina has been at the center of BKBM’s strongest performing years,” said Andrew Rauch, PE, former President of BKBM Engineers. “She combines deep technical expertise with a clear-eyed, data-driven approach to running the business. Just as importantly, she leads in a way that builds trust with our clients, our partners, and our employee-owners.”
Leadership Grounded in Ownership and Partnership
Wyffels played a key role in BKBM’s transition to a 100% Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP), helping evaluate and implement an ownership structure that now benefits every employee. She is known internally for keeping constructability, responsiveness, and long-term client relationships central to firm strategy.
“I am extremely grateful for the trust my colleagues have placed in me as I step into the role of President,” said Wyffels. “Over the years, BKBM has allowed me to learn from exceptional engineers, contribute to projects that improve our communities, and help support our transition to employee ownership. I am excited to lead this next chapter by continuing to deliver a strong client experience and creating new opportunities for our team, while remaining true to our culture of being a reliable, responsive design partner.
In her new role, Wyffels will continue to work with BKBM’s leadership team to guide strategy, financial performance, and project delivery across both civil and structural engineering services.
Representative Projects Shaping Communities
Over her career at BKBM, Wyffels has led or co-led structural engineering on projects that contribute to the region’s academic, healthcare, and public spaces, including:
-
Pillsbury Hall Restoration – University of Minnesota
Restoring one of the university’s most historic buildings and transforming it into a modern academic environment while respecting its original character.
-
Twin Cities Orthopedics – Multiple Locations
Structural solutions for clinics and surgery centers throughout the metro, including Brooklyn Park, Waconia, Stillwater, and Vadnais Heights, supporting expanded access to orthopedic care.
-
Bde Maka Ska Refectory – Minneapolis
Reimagining a lakeside landmark as an inclusive community gathering place, with a focus on durability, usability, and long-term stewardship of a highly visible public setting.
These projects reflect BKBM’s emphasis on practical, constructible design that supports client goals and community use.
Looking Ahead at BKBM’s Next Chapter
Together, these experiences position Tina to lead BKBM’s next chapter with consistency and clarity. Her appointment reflects BKBM’s commitment to thoughtful succession, strong client and partner relationships, and an employee-owned culture that invests in people for the long term. As President, she will continue to focus on delivering reliable, constructible solutions that serve both our clients’ goals and the communities where we work.
