BKBM provided structural engineering for a 131,000 square foot, three level office building on top of two levels of parking (one level below grade) in downtown Sioux Falls, SD.
Location: Sioux Falls, SD
Client: Lloyd Companies
Services: Structural
Square Feet: 131,000
Construction Materials: Cast-in-Place Concrete, Precast Concrete, Composite Metal Deck, Structural Steel
Parking levels were constructed of precast concrete supported by cast-in-place retaining walls. The office building on top of the parking was constructed of composite steel decking supported by structural steel framing and cast-in-place concrete shear walls. Because the building site is located within the flood plain of the Big Sioux River, the below grade parking level was designed to withstand fully saturated soils due to the flooded condition.
